The Patio at 5th & Ash is one of the newer serious kitchens downtown, on the corner its name gives away — Ash Street at 5th, a few blocks back from Centre. It describes itself as an American bistro built on local seafood, which in practice means a shorter, more focused menu than the big waterfront rooms.
The location does a lot of work here. Ash Street is residential-feeling and quiet in the evening, so dinner does not come with Centre Street's foot traffic outside the window.

416 Ash Street is four blocks south-east of the Centre Street shops — a five-minute walk from the middle of downtown, on a quieter street. Downtown's on-street parking is changing — the paid programme is due to end on 18 November 2026 — so check the parking guide.
It is close to Burlingame on 5th and David's on Ash, which makes this corner of downtown the island's densest cluster of grown-up dinner rooms.
