Café Karibo is one of the names that comes up first when you ask a local where to eat downtown, and it has been on North 3rd Street long enough that a lot of people give directions by it. It runs as a casual café — sandwiches, salads, bowls and a proper lunch menu — in a converted building with a shaded courtyard that is the real draw on a mild day.
It does not take advance reservations, which is worth knowing before a holiday weekend: it is first-come, first-served, and Sunday brunch fills the courtyard early.

What to expect
Table service, a broad café menu, and a room that works for a long lunch. The Sunday schedule runs brunch hours only (9am to 3pm), and Monday is a lunch-only day — the kitchen closes at 3pm — so an evening plan built around Karibo needs to be Tuesday through Saturday.
The courtyard is the reason to come. It is one of the few genuinely pleasant outdoor rooms in downtown Fernandina that is not on a street, and in spring and autumn it is the best seat in the district.
Where it sits, and where to park
27 N 3rd Street is a block north of Centre, next door to the run of shops and a short walk from the marina end of downtown. Third Street is inside the downtown on-street parking zone, which is due to stop being paid on 18 November 2026 — see the parking guide.
It pairs naturally with a morning on Centre Street or a stop at the museum before lunch.
