The Hidden Crab is on Old Nassauville Road, off the island on the mainland side of the marsh — which is exactly why locals rate it and most visitors never find it. The name is not marketing; you have to be going there.
It is a seafood house with a happy hour and a following, in the part of Nassau County where the shrimp boats and the marsh are the scenery rather than the theme.

You need a car. There is no version of this trip on foot or by trolley from downtown.

942699 Old Nassauville Road is on the mainland side, roughly fifteen to twenty minutes' drive from downtown Fernandina Beach depending on the bridge. There is on-site parking.
If you want local-scale seafood without leaving the island, Timoti's downtown and Shuckers off Amelia Island Parkway are the closer options.
